Family Friendly Cartoon Characters From The ’90s

The 90s were considered by many to be a golden age for cartoons. What kid growing up in the 90s doesn’t have memories of sitting in front of the TV on a Saturday morning with a bowl of cereal to watch a few hours of cartoons? This is a look at some family-friendly cartoon characters from the 1990s.

If you mention Doug Funnie, any 90s kid will remember the theme song perfectly in their head! Doug, from the show of the same name, keeps a journal filled with all of the adventures he has after moving into Bluffington. His best friend Skeeter provides a lot of comedic support, and the audience is always rooting for Doug to get the girl of his dreams, Patti Mayonnaise.

Another memorable character from the world of 90s cartoons is Rocko, from Rocko’s Modern Life. Rocky is a wallaby with a steer named Heffer for a best friend. The two have an Odd Couple-like relationship, with Rocko being much more serious and neat than his gluttonous, party-animal best friend.

Animaniacs is another 90s cartoon with a great cast. Yakko, Wakko, and Dot brought home a number of awards for the series, including Daytime Emmy Awards. The siblings are three cartoon stars from the early days of animation who were locked away until the 90s, then let loose to unleash havoc!

A spin-off of Animaniacs, Pink and the Brain are a duo of genetically engineered lab mice. Brain is always trying to plan to take over the world, and Pinky is his faithful assistant. This is another award-winning cartoon with hilarious characters. To this day, ask any 90s cartoon fan what they plan to do that night and the answer just might be “The same thing we do every night, Pinky: try to take over the world.”
