The school year is winding down and working parents everywhere are seeking child care solutions for the upcoming summer months.
In St. Louis,
KSDK (NBC) and its locally-produced
Show Me St. Louis daily talk show are lending a hand with a handy online
Summer Camp Guide.
The guide lists dozens of day camp options along with thumbnail descriptions, contact information and the appropriate age range each camp serves.
For easy reference the camps are sorted by state (Missouri, Illinois, and Out-of-State listings).
The list of camps is comprehensive and includes presumably most of the camps in the region. "Featured camps" (i.e. sponsors) are given top billing at the head of the section. They also receive banner positions along the right rail, which in turn link to their own websites.
Recently
KSDK redesigned its website and the camp guide apparently has not migrated to the new site.

THE ONLINE SPINLocal initiatives like
The Summer Camp Guide are tailor-made for local TV websites.
They contain a wealth of on-demand local information - certainly much more than can be imparted during a standard TV newscast.
Furthermore
KSDK has given users dozens of choices for their child care planning - not simply those camps that happen to advertise. By listing all the camps this online section is a better resource for online users, which in turn gives the "featured" sponsors an opportunity to grab a hefty percentage of a much larger user base.
Combine that with appearances on the
Show Me St. Louis program and
KSDK can boast an attractive, well-targeted, multi-platform promotional package.
